Exterior Paint Job

Green siding, black bay window caps, and creamy trim. Amazing what fresh paint will do for neglected wood work!

Side stoop.

The driveway stoop.

The back looks gray here, but it is really pale green.

And now the Drywall....

Our Great Room is really taking shape!

Here are the stairs, view toward the front door. I can't wait! I can't wait!

Here is the landing at the top of the Great Room stairs. ote the closets on the right. This is formerly the Toy Loft. See next photo:

Storage!

Also from the loft, the step up to the new Art Room above the Great Room.
Railing coming soon....

This is the new dormer off the back of the Bonus Room. Great view of the garden from here!

And the Brick Goes Up!

It is finally taking shape as the mason crew instals the brick. Yipee!

This is the driveway side where the new brick is laced in with the old. (I may have a little tinting and touching up to do on the color, but overall, it's terrific!)

The chimney on the back.

The Bonus Room Rehab

Here the opening is created to move from the Bonus Room into the storage space above the new garage.

This is a peek at a new wall replacing the balcony rail in the bonus room and the new dormer which faces the back yard.

The back yard facing dormer. (And Graham & Rapley!)

Graham and Wes - inspecting the Bonus Room. The framed in area in the back left is the new bathroom we are adding upstairs (for Graham).

The Farm House

This is the view from our front stoop and Kitchen. JJ and Swinjita are our on site pets. We feed and water them and move them from one grazing area to the next.

Here's the front of the Farm House.

...and our country kitchen...

...and dining/office/homework area...
(note Sadie looking for scraps)

...from the dining area into the kitchen....

This is the Den. There is a ridiculously HUGE fireplace in there killing 1/3 of the room.

View from the other end.

The Master. There is one meore dresser in tehre, but that's it! We feel like the Princess and the Pea in here!

The kids were sharing this room, but Graham can't stop talking if there is someone in the room who might listen, so we moved her to the guest room during the week.

Second Floor Framing

Here is the skeleton of the second floor...rain is forecast for the next 10 days,
so the shroud is in place!

The kids are checking it out from the deck.

Hard to interpret, but this is a view of the new upstairs room from the loft. This will become a solid wall. You are looking in thru the closet.

Here is Wes in the new Great Room! The fireplace will go in the center ofthe wall and French doors on either side. It's really taking shape now!

Old Garage, New Garage

Here is our existing garage. The floor joists are going in...we are raising the floor to meet the main floor on level. This will become the 'Kid's Casual Family Room'.

Here you can see the beam in the old garage ceiling. If left, it would seriously compromise the visual comfort of the finished room.....so it's getting removed. The door inside leads right into the kitchen and will remain in it's original place.

The exterior brick is removed and new garage cement poured.

Here there is CDX (thick plywood) laid on top of the joists for sub-floor. Also, observe the super structure (beam) now in the ceiling replacing the beam that once hung down 10+".
Yea! It's gone!

New Garage is being framed in....

Closing in the Old Garage / New Casual Family Room.

The 3rd Gable on the front of the house is here!

Look - an empty garage! I think I need to go out and buy 3000 Antique Sap Buckets like I did in 1999.......They should fit nicely in here:)!

Wes is in utter dis-belief! He was in Spain when this got started. He's standing next to 12,000 bricks from Dan River Textile Mill in Virginia. How ironic we'd end up with these bricks. My late dad was a textile engineer, as was his eldest brother. They frequented Dan River when I was a kid.

SIDE NOTE: Have you noticed how tidy everything is? I am in shock at the condition each of my Contractor's subs have left the jobsite every day. They are respectful, careful, and clean! They sweep up at the end of each day. Of course there is disturbed dirt, but things are in order and we can walk around after work hours without feeling we are at risk of hurting ourselves. Thomas Drew (DBD Construction) has a stellar group of experienced trades people working on our project. So far, so good!
